analysis type vs solver

I would want to know the difference between analysis type and solver in SOLVER PARAMETERS.
If I select the time-harmonic analysis type in the Model Navigator, then I can choose for example the stationary solver or the time-dependent solver. In the first case, I can impose the time stepping and it saves the solution in the time steps, while in the second case it isn't possible. I would want to understand also what happens if I choose the stationary solver and the time-harmonic analysis type.
