Entities needing a material

I'm a new user to COMSOL 5.5 and I'm having trouble assigning materials to my domains. I'm working in the fluid-structure interaction and multiphase flow module. My geometry is a box divided into two layers (water-air), inside which there is a cylinder partially immersed in water. The domains are 4: the part of the cylinder immersed in water, the submerged part in air, the lower part of the box (water) and the upper part of the box (air). I assigned a new material to the cylinder and water and air to two domains of the box. However, I see the red stop sign on the Materials settings: "Entities needing a material: Boundary 6, 10-20". Boundary 6 is the water-air interface, while the others boundaries belong to the cylinder. If I assigned a material to this boundaries, it is not possible to define material to the cylinder domain.

How I can solve this issue? Where is the mistake?

Hi Rosangela,

The likely cause for the boundaries to need a material definition is that the Shell interface is defined on them. It can only be defined on boundaries (shells) in 3D and requires some material properties.
