CAD files and boundary selection

Hello, I have imported a CAD file from Solidworks as a .STEP file for an electrolysis simulation. My issue is that I can't select the boundaries. For example I am trying to select a surface for the Electric Ground, but hovering the mouse on the model does nothing, as if nothing can be selected. This is weird as when simply looking at the model I can select surfaces or boundaries.
