Dear George,
You would like to take a look at the projection methods in COMSOL:
www.comsol.com/blogs/analyze-simulation-results-projection-operators/
Or use the values from a single slice of your 3D geometry using an extrusion if the results of the flow are axi-symmetric as well.:

Best regards,
Frank

Dear Frank,
Thank you for the reply. I've been looking at these tutorials for quite some time, but it is still unclear for me how to perform this simple task (see attached). Ok, I can assign the extrusion, and then? Where does the data go? I assume I should define a new component, which is 2D axial symmetric. Then, how do I take the data for the new solution to use? Should I define new variables in the new component, such as mod1.ux = mod2.ux ? I get simply zero's for the vector in the 2D component. Can you point me to a tutorial model in the library? I think I'm missing something.
Thanks a lot again,
George

Dear George,
In essence, you make the results from one source of the extrusion available on the destination.
Some tutorials that use this include:
