Plane wave excitation (nanoantenna case)

I am working on COSOL v3.4. I am trying to model a dipole antenna placed on a dielectric substrate , I put my structure inside air box and I added two PML boxes above and below air box, the side walls are defined as PEC whereas the top surface is defined as SBC with plane wave excitaion and the lower surface has been defined as SBC without excitation.
My question is : please, if I want to launch an x-polarized electric field perpendicular to my antenna, which excitation is true?
Ex=exp(-j*k0_rfw*z)
or
Ez=exp(-j*k0_rfw*x)
The first excitation yields a small value of electric field in the feed gap of the dipole (about 2.5 V/m) when 1 V/m is launched, while the second excitation results in no-solution !!!!!!
I appreciate any help.
Cheers
Ahmed
