Mesh generation failed

I am trying to mesh a cylinder wrapped with a helix (3D geometry) but when I try to generate the free tetrahedral mesh for this geometry the comsol 4.2 always reports error and cannot generate the mesh for this geometry. From certain published results that have utilized the same geometry I came to know that the helix has a point contact with the cylinder in 2D and it has a line contact in 3D with the cylinder and hence the volume mesh cannot be generated, therefore blending between the helix and cylinder is necessary in order to have a good volume mesh. Does any body knows how to use the blending feature in comsol 4.2 or how to generate the mesh for this geometry.
Thanks in advance
