when I try to run a mesh i encounter the following error message: "Edge is much shorter than the specified minimum element size." I do not know what this means and any advice on how to get rid of this error would be very helpful

Doyle-

I believe what you are describing is simply a warning not an error.

You can get rid of the warning by decreasing the minimum element size in the Size settings of your mesh operation. This minimum element size is ignored if you have any small geometric entities that need to be resolved by the mesher. Hence, the warning.
