Parametric Sweep without saving results

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi all

I am running several models in v4.2, and with all of them I need to sweep at least two if not 3 or 4 nested parameters (which works just fine!). I have done this using both the internal and external sweeps, depending on my needs. I then use a combination of Probes and postprocessing to only extract data I'm interested in. For this, I have found v4.2 ery good.

The current model that I want to sweep, however, is fairly big. I recall that in v3.5a, you could tell COMSOL to export certain variables to a text file on each sweep, and then discard that solution before moving to the next one, avoiding overly large (or too many) files and subsequent memory issues. COMSOL would only store the last solution (and whatever parameters etc you asked it to save).

Is there any capability to do this in v4.2? All up I want to run ~180 solutions, and I only need to save a few results (some boundary integration data) from each. I am uninterested in actually keeping the results, as I am working at ~300k elements and it just gets too big for my poor CPU!

I'd prefer to run the external sweep, but if there is a way this would work only on the internal, that is just fine!

Thanks for any advice!

Cheers
Adam
