Simple 2D example model for structural mechanics module

Hi all, I'm trying to create a very simple 2D structural analysis, but having issues with convergence - I assume probably because my problem is somehow not well-defined as it's my first venture into structural mechanics.

Can anyone point me to any simple 2D models or tutorials for linear structural mechanics?

Hi Robert,

If it’s a linear stationary problem I suggest first checking that there are sufficient boundary conditions. If it is a nonlinear problem I suggest reducing the severity of nonlinearities by applying loads more gradually. COMSOL has over 10 variants of a very basic “Bracket” model that they use to illustrate solid mechanics analysis features such as plasticity, contact, buckling, etc. I suggest working through a couple of these models first.
