Power in or Power deposited

Hi,
I dont quite understand the difference between power input and power deposited in the Electromagnetic ports section. I am interested in simulating the laser irradiation of plasmonic arrays, hence I use a periodic boundry but with user defined ports. Now I assume that the power input should be the amount of power for that particular region, hence the laser power density is considered to calculate the power on just that 700nm region. Am I using this correctly? If so, what difference does Pdeposited make then?
