Freeze-dredging

I've been trying to simulate freeze-dredging in Comsol 5.0, and to do so I made a fairly simple model. (Attached)
However, the problem I've encountered is slow freezing times and I've drawn the conclusion that it has to be the model for the thermal properties of the soil/frozen soil which is not quite working as it should be. Shortly, I'm unsure how to model the freezing of the ocean floor and how to account for increasing resistance in the ground when ice is forming.
Please help!
