BHE Field Design by Superposition of Effects in Space and Time

S. Lazzari[1], E. Zanchini[1]
[1]DIENCA - University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy

A design method for BHE fields in the absence of groundwater flow is presented, based on the superposition of effects. The effects of any periodic heat ...

Modeling Pit Lake Flooding After Mine Closure

S. Jordana[1], A. Nardi[1]
[1]Amphos 21, Barcelona, Spain

Most of mining works, either on the surface or in the underground, demand continuous groundwater pumping in order to operate under dry conditions. When ...

Scraping Non-Newtonian Power-Law Paint

C. R. Meyer [1], J. R. Rice [1],
[1] Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA

A similarity solution to Taylor's paint scraper problem for the flow of a non-Newtonian power-law fluid is presented. A shooting method numerical ...

Model of Sub-Surface Heat Rejection in Alternative Cooling Systems

E. Holzbecher [1], T. Manchester [2],
[1] German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), Halban, Oman
[2] Univ. Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands

A model is presented for heat rejection in the subsurface. Geometries of different dimension are coupled by linear and general extrusions. In that way it is possible to deal with multi-scale physical set-up. An example shows the high influence of groundwater flow.

Electromagnetic Field Computations for Saturated Porous Media

S. Cambon[1], I. Bogdanov[1]
[1]CHLOE, Bâtiment UFR Sciences et Techniques, Pau Cedex, France

Non-conventional hydrocarbon resources become more and more challenging object for energy producing companies throughout the world. Being already known ...

Solution of Poroelastic Equations with Different Base Variables Using Equation-based Modeling

M. H. Akanda [1], Y. Cao [1], A. J. Meir [1],
[1] Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Auburn University, Auburn, AL, USA

Poroelasticity equations describe the interaction between fluid flow and solids deformation within a porous medium. Modeling of poroelasticity is ...

Lithosphere-Scale 3D Thermal Models of the Norwegian Continental Shelf

Y. P. Maystrenko [1],
[1] Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), Trondheim, Norway

To reveal key features of the thermal pattern at different structural levels of the Norwegian continental shelf and the adjacent mainland, the ...

Investigating the Impacts of Hydrogeological Parameters on DSI Efficiency through Numerical Simulation

Y. Jin[1], E. Holzbecher[1], S. Ebneth[2]
[1]Department of Applied Geology, GZG, Georg-August- University of Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany
[2]Hölscher Wasserbau, Haren, Germany

Düsensauginfiltration (DSI),‘nozzle-suction-infiltration’, is a new method for dewatering that avoids groundwater abstraction from the aquifer. ...

Modeling Large-Scale Mine Dewatering by Using Subsurface Flow Module in COMSOL Multiphysics

J. Molinero[1], A. Nardi[1], P. Trinchero[1]
[1]Amphos 21, Barcelona, Spain

Groundwater is a key factor affecting mine operations worldwide. On one hand, both underground and open pit mines need to pump out groundwater in order ...
