Expanding Volume within Another Volume

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I'm trying to create a design in which a balloon would inflate inside of a uterus model and I would like to know if it is possible before I fully attempt. The details are as follows:

The balloon would initially begin at a set volume as a sphere with an initial radius. Over time, this sphere would need to expand to simulate the effects of being filled with a fluid solution. Possibly through an expression describing the radius 'R' as a function of time.

This balloon would be contained within a uterine model that has been constructed in SolidWorks. We are trying to simulate the balloon's expansion and application of pressure along the uterine walls to fully witness which areas of the uterus would experience pressure first due to the balloon.

My questions are:

a) Is it possible to create an expanding volume due to fluid flow in COMSOL? (to simulate the balloon)

b) Can a SolidWorks 3D model be imported into COMSOL? (I've tried saving it as different formats, however they don't seem to work)

c) Is it possible to incorporate one model into another model? (The balloon within the uterus)

d) Is there a way to show the pressure applied from the spherical model onto the uterine model?

Thank you for your time

- Jimmy
