Hi,

I am interested what kind of solver is used by Comsol transient solver. FETD or DGTD?
It use FEM for stationary solver, right?

Thank you.

COMSOL uses a range of numerical methods depending on the problem. See www.comsol.com/community/forums/general/thread/45905 as well as the documentation.
One of the main news with the upcoming release of 5.3 is the expanded availability of boundary element methods, see www.comsol.com/video/introducing-version-5-3-of-the-comsol-multiphysics-software .
Best regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your reply.
In the web link, "Several different methods are used in the add-on modules, including finite element analysis, the finite volume method, the boundary element method, and particle tracing methods, but the emphasis of COMSOL Multiphysics is on the finite element method.", but DGTD is not included in the previous disccusion.

To be specific, does COMSOL use DGTD for Transient Electromagnetic Problems?

Because Ansys HFSS uses DGTD as its transient solver, I just want to check out if COMSOL uses the same kind of solver.

Thank you.
