How to Simulate Material Removal in Laser heating

What is My Simulation is about:
I am heating a block with laser beam till it reaches the melting point. After the melting i want to simulate the material removal in the form of element removal or element kill method. How can i do this?
I have seen example of doing it by moving mesh method but i wanted to know if it can be done using element removal or kill method in comsol.
