How is the porosity defined in the porous matrix?

The porosity is denoted by ε_p in the porous matrix interface.
Based on the Darcy-Brinkmann equation, I would expect it to be defined as Vfluid/Vtot.
However, the demonstrated behavior in the solutions indicates the opposite: Vsolid/Vtot.
Also, I am able to define porosity values > 1, which might suggest that it is defined as Vsolid/Vfluid.
Anyway, the information is not given in the manual, so which one is it?
