When looking at a 2D drawing in Comsol v4, which directions do x,y,z refer to?

I am looking for an answer like "x is positive to the left, y is positive going upwards (north), and z is positive coming out of the page"

The reason I need x,y, AND z is because to define surface current density on a line on a 2D drawing, you must specify what it is in the x, y, z directions. So the out-of-plane direction does matter in this case

Thanks,

Hi

in 2D +X goes from left to right, +Y from botom to top (vertical up) and Z follows the right hand rule (out of the paper)

In the same register: a Boundary = an edge in 2D has a direction, shown by the arrows, the "up normal" is "counterclockwise to the left" and should point out of the enclosed surface/domain in 2D

Good luck
