Error setting ModelUtil.path()

Hi,
on my Linux system i cannot set the Comsol path e.g. via ModelUtil.path('/home/myname/'). Matlab returns an error

??? Error using ==> path at 37
Arguments must be strings.

Any idea what i'm doing wrong here?
