How to calculate the area variation of a 2D model in comsol 4.1?

Hi everyone

I constructed a simple 2D model which is a square plate and I used eigenfrequency solver to find its resonant modes. I found the area of the plate changes significantly when resonating. Now I want to to calculate the area variation of this square plate, but I do not know how. Could anyone help me? Thanks.

James

Hi

you should be aware that the deformations for eigenfrequency analysis are arbitrary, there is nothing limiting the amplitude (by design = definition of the eigenfrequency analysis) so these displacements (hence volume variations) are normalised in different ways. check the solver node you can use rms, mass matrix and other ways.

There are several threads about this on the forum, try a search

finally in structural, take car with respect to which FRAME you use for the integration

Good luck
