Natural Convection Heat Transfer

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I'm using the Conduction and Convection application mode to model the heat transfer resulting from a hot plate in an upward contact with water.
Does anyone know the expression of the velocity of the fluid for natural convection in these conditions ?
Thanks.

Nicolas

The velocity depends on the heat transfer rate and the difference of density and temperature in your system. You need a heat transfer coefficient which is f(Re,Pr,Gr,...) and a temperature-dependent expression for the density or the Boussinesq-approximation.

There is a model in the model gallery which is very similar to my problem : free convection in a water glass

Unfortunately, I don't find it in the Model Library. Is there another way to have access to this model ?

Thanks

Nicolas
