2D-axisymmetric vs 3D in magnetic (AC/DC) simulation

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I have been simulating a motor assembly of a transducer. The simulation started with 2D-axis model. Everything was looking fine. I then created a 3D model using the 2D exported geometry. Difference between the 3D and the 2D results are rather large. The two models are enclosed for reference.

Force factor vs displacement of the two models

Is the difference solely dependent on the mesh density of 3D model? Anything more/deeper than that?

Please help me to understand.

Thank you!
