Thermal stress option seems to be missing

I'm looking to model stress and deformation in parts with differing thermal expansion coefficients as a result of a temperature change. Thermal stress is supposed to be available in the solid mechanics section of the program based on the Comsol website, but I can't find it. I have access to Comsol's thermal and solid mechanics functions, but thermal stress is nowhere to be seen. I'm running version 4.2a.

It is available if and only if your license includes either the Structural Mechanics Module or the MEMS Module. See www.comsol.com/products/specifications/structural-mechanics/ .

That's the strange thing. I've run structural mechanics models before (Just force and displacement models, no thermal stress) and I have the options to apply loads and constraints to the model, just no thermal load option. I've attached a screenshot of the options available to me under the Solid Mechanics heading in the model builder menu.

The screenshot is fully consistent with your license having neither the Structural Mechanics Module nor the MEMS Module: only those structural mechanics capabilities featured in the base package are available to you.

If in doubt about which modules your license includes, go to the Options>Licenses menu to check on that.

That explains it - I didn't realise that any structural mechanics options came with the base version of the program, so I thought I had the whole lot. Thanks for clearing that up, you've saved me hours of wondering whether I've missed something obvious.
