Error with the laminar flow inlet in plasma simulations

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello!

Using the laminar flow for plasma processes I have had some errors when the section of the inlet is small. I am trying to simulate a chamber where the inlet section has a radius of 0.0025 m, so the speeds of the inlet flow are quite high, and I think that is the reason of the problem. When I increase this section, for the same flow, I don´t have the errors anymore.

So I think COMSOL gives the error because of high gradients of speed or pressure. I have also observed that in the moment of the error we reach negative pressures in some points of the plasma, next to the inlet, which is impossible in reality.

Is there any way to treat this high-speed fluxes without error, or to avoid the pressure to reach negative values?

Thank you very much,
Angel Ochoa
