Set geometry/boundaries using a variable?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I am trying to solve the device physics equations for a 1D (eventually 2-3D) solar cell with the PDE solver. However, a solar cell of fixed total thickness and two physical layers typically has four electronic layers, the thicknesses of which depend on the applied voltage.

I thought I could make the voltage a parameter and determine the geometry by setting the electronic layer thicknesses as variables dependent on the voltage. Geometry seemingly is unable to be defined based on a variable (probably for good reason due to meshing changing).

How can I set the geometry of my system based on a variable rather than a parameter? Is there any way to do this natively in COMSOL or do I need to export the model to MATLAB and write a shell around it?

Thank you for any suggestions!

Cris
