Unloading curve and loading rate.

Dear All,,

I am trying to simulate the nano indentation experiment and I simulate the loading curve by applying force into the indenter and get the displacement from COMSOL.

But how can I simulate the unloading curve?? is that possible by FEM or just by experiment ?

Also, can any one give a hint of how to a apply a force related with time as the attached paper where there are three time zones (loading - holding - unloading ).
