Validation of fluid structure interaction?

Dear all,

Do you mind to share if there are some standard/ simple validation examples/experiments of fluid structure interaction (FSI) used to validate simulation results? Just like we often used standard laminar pipe flow to validate fluid flow implementation in software.

There are a lot of benchmark FSI examples that have become relatively standard by now such beam vibrating due to Karman vortices (Model Gallery ID 9408) and the flexible obstacle in a fluid channel (Model Gallery ID 987). However these are not verification examples where you can compare the FEA results to an analytical or empirical solution.

Indeed, as Nagi points out above, FSI verification problems can be hard to come by, for the reasons you can imagine. We do have one model classified as FSI in the V&V Models page and several fluidics model that some folks may consider to be FSI although I wouldn't - The definition of FSI being a bit subjective.
