Senior Applications Engineer (Multiple Openings)

Duties: Support prospective and current customers and users in the use of the COMSOL® software, modeling their technical applications, particularly in the field of structural mechanics and the Multiphysics couplings undergirding them. Create and demonstrate well-defined models for prospective customers to illustrate the capabilities of COMSOL® software for modeling their applications and assist in web-based and physical events and meetings to demonstrate them. Identify and communicate to customers and COMSOL staff new and existing functionality where the COMSOL® software can be applied to expand their research and development goals. Develop and teach course content for the use of the COMSOL® software to current and prospective customers, for general or specific technical applications, that may range from university-based engineering students and professors, who are experts in their field of research, to engineers and scientists at commercial companies and government research laboratories. Guide and mentor new and junior applications and sales engineers and technical account managers on the application of the COMSOL® software and where it can best be utilized.

Requirements: Requires PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related field of study, and 1 year of research experience in any job title/occupation/position involving modeling based on numerical methods, such as the finite element method or similar in the field of structural mechanics. Experience specified must include each of the following: 1 year of commercial work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Requires coursework in at least 2 or more of the following areas: Numerical Methods, Fatigue, Fracture Mechanics, Plasticity, Lubrication, contact mechanics or equivalent. Requires 3 peer reviewed journals in the field of computational modeling / numerical modeling of fatigue, fracture, plasticity, lubrication, contact mechanics or its equivalent. Requires 5% domestic and international travel to client sites to run COMSOL-sponsored events and activities in North and South America.
