Battery Modeling Model

In the scope of the conference activities of the Swiss Battery Days 2026 we invite you to this hands-on workshop for an introduction to modeling of batteries using COMSOL Multiphysics®

In this workshop, on Monday, August 24 at 9:30-11:30 you will see how multiphysics simulation — the simulation of processes or systems involving more than one, simultaneously occurring, type of physics phenomenon — can help designers and engineers develop the next generation of batteries and facilitate their integration into finished battery systems.

Modeling batteries requires different levels of detail depending on the purpose of the simulations. Battery developers can use high-fidelity models to investigate the influence of various design parameters, such as the choice of materials, dimensions, and the particle sizes of the active material. These models can also be used to simulate various aging mechanisms under different operating conditions.

Join us for this hands-on workshop for an introduction to the battery modeling using COMSOL Multiphysics®.

During this workshop, we will discuss:

  • How modeling can improve the design and development of the next generation of batteries
  • The capabilities and fundamental modeling workflow of COMSOL Multiphysics®
  • How different functionality and physics interfaces in the Battery Design Module can be used for battery design and analysis
  • The process of building and running a battery model using the Lithium-Ion Battery interface
  • The fundamental modeling workflow for building and running a battery model
  • Analyzing model results to investigate the influence of parameters affecting the cell performance

Sign up via online form below.

A free two-week trial license of COMSOL Multiphysics® and all its add-on modules will be provided. It is valid for 14 days so that all registrants can continue working with the software after the event. For the hands-on session, we recommend bringing a laptop to the event in order to practice the new functionality right away.
