Plot Average Boundary Face Value with Time - Transient Conduction

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Greetings -

I feel like I have a simple question, but cannot figure it out in COMSOL. I have a transient heat conduction problem with a rectangular domain. Two faces are convecting energy out of the domain and I want to see how one of these face temperatures changes with time. To do this, I would like to plot the average face value (3D domain, hence face is a 2D surface) with time. Each time step should correspond to a single, average value - apparently this is extremely not straight forward is a program made for visualizing PDE solutions.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

you can calculate the average value of a boundary (=face in 3D) or edge in 2D) with the "average" operator in the Definition node.

You need to "update your model, or resolve it to get it active on the results, once created.

Good luck
