Pellet model for CO2 gasification

My system of interest is the reaction of CO2 with single char pellet. I have two PDEs for above system. One is obtained for the molar balance of CO2 which includes accumulation of CO2 in pellet, diffusion term and reaction term. Second PDE is for heat balance which includes accumulation, conduction and reaction terms. I want to solve these PDEs using COMSOL. Please help me with the following points:
1) How to proceed for this?
2) Do I really need to non-dimensionalize the PDEs before solving it using COMSOL
