Does anyone know what element ratio means?

This is probably an easy question to answer. I am new to COMSOL. I was looking at 1D DC Glow Discharge tutorial that the COMSOL website had for the plasma module. On page 14 (Mesh 1/Distribution 1/Step 6) it says to type 8 for the element ratio. I was just wondering what it meant. Any help would be appreciated.
