normal flux integration for total and scattered field for evanescent illumination

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello all,

I was trying to calculate the total normal flux and scattered normal flux on a fictitious interior boundary as is described in www.comsol.fi/showroom/gallery/3459/. However, instead of a global plane wave, I defined volume source everywhere (except the PML) using Fresnel equations.

If the wave is coming in at a total internal reflection, the evanescent wave should carry no power to the second medium. Hence, if I integrate the total power in that second media, it should be due to the scattered wave off of the nanoparticle only. My expectation was that for this evanescent wave, the integrated normal flux would be equal for total and scattered field in second medium. But unfortunately, I could find a factor of three difference between those two quantities.

Can any one please help me with that?

Thanks
