Reciprocal of step size increase suddenly

I am simulating a droplet flowing in a microchannel using ALE moving mesh module. Time dependent solver with fully coupled method is applied. It confuses me that the reciprocal of step size decreases at the early stage but increases suddently at one time step and results in 'not converged of nonlinear solver'. How to solve this problem?
