Solving simultaneously in 2D and 3D domain

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I would like to solve a heat transfer model over a cube with two following conditions:

(1) Heat generated within the cube (governed by a heat transfer equation in 3D domain)
(2) Heat generated on one of the facet of the cube (governed by a heat transfer equation in 2D domain).

My question is: How can I solve both the equations simultaneously (one in 3D and the other in 2D)?

Any pointer to methods of defining a 2D domain extracted out of an existing 3D domain?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Susant
