                                                    I noticed you did not get an answer to this question, so I thought I might give you a response, though limited as it may be.
I do have some experience with IBM AIX since we used it heavily from about 1991 until Linux became readily available.  We still maintain and use two IBM workstations running AIX for some of our older software that must be maintained for QA purposes.
The IBM AIX machines use powerpc architecture which is not supported by COMSOL.  Even though you can run the linux kernel and many linux packages on powerpc, COMSOL only runs on i386 and amd64 (em64T also) linux architectures.
You can also run many linux applications directly under AIX by compiling the open-source software using the powerpc switches in the compiler.  I am not aware of any emulation modes that might allow you to run COMSOL under AIX.
Any COMSOL developers reading this who care to respond differently or modify this response, please chime in.
