Pulsed Heat Source

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

As someone new to COMSOL, I am need of help on how to implement a pulsed heat source. I currently have a circle on a micro beam acting as a heat source that corresponds to an infrared laser. I now wish to pulse that laser with a square-wave function. How do you take the function and apply it to the circular area as a heat source. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Paul

Hi

if your circular zone is a boundary (surface in 3D) then add a surface flux, define a time dependent function (use the Definition rect function with smooth transitions, else the sover will have dicciculties. Then set your time stepping t strict or intermediate and give a few time steps during the pulse change phase so the solveer follows the pulse shape

Good luck
