I"ve tried to implement the material properties, more specifically refractive index, in a 2D model of lens. Is there a way to define a piecewise function that describes the refractive index of all domains in my simulation?

Model-Definition-Functions-Piecewise

But piecewise functions should be used with a caution in FEM. Always better to avoid them.

Hi

you can have COMSOL to smoothen them to avoid the singularities, but often it makes the model highly non linear, hence long to solve

Good luck
