Material Properties setting problems in AC/DC Module

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I've created a simple 3D model in the AC/DC Module.

When I'm viewing the geometry using the select domain option I can view and select all of my 10 domains.

But when I go to assign materials to the domains, Comsol tells me that I only have 8 domains. For some reason the software seeing two separate domains as the same and is grouping them when I am trying to set the materials.

Does anyone know what causes this and how I can fix it?

Jeevan,

check the aspect ratio, if it is greater than 1e4 then comsol's kernel may have problems rendering the 3D image.

aspect ratio: the length of the longest edge divided by the shortest edge you can find in your geometry.

cheers,
Felipe BM

Dear Felipe,

Thank you for the information!

My aspect ratio is small (I am modeling a bio sensor (interdigital sensor)). Upon closer inspection of my drawing I found that the geometry for the conductive material was projecting into the dielectric material ever so slightly (app 1e-6m). When I redrew the geometry to remove the overlap the conflict disappeared and Comsol recognised the two distinct domains. I am now able to set my materials.
