Capacitance of plate capacitor

Hi

I wonder what the expression:

unr*(down(es.Dr)-up(es.Dr))+unz*(down(es.Dz)-up(es.Dz))

means. I use this expression to calculate the capacitance of the plate capacitor. I use 2D-axial symmetry and integrate over one of the plates. Specially i wonder what "up" and "down" in this expression means.

Hi

check your doc, "up" and "down" are the two sides of a boundary when you have some special physics on teh boundary that means that the gradients are NOT continuous over the boundary. it is to distinguis the "two sides" of a boundary normal
