Modeling Overview: Antennas
You can use COMSOL Multiphysics® for modeling antennas and antenna devices, such as microstrip patch antennas, Vivaldi antennas, or dipole antennas. In this brief webinar recording, you will get an overview of the software and its high-frequency electromagnetic modeling capabilities. These capabilities are expanded by the use of add-on products such as the RF Module. Specifically, we discuss the electromagnetic waves formulation solving for the electric fields and briefly discuss the transient formulation. We also go over the quantities of interest when simulating antennas and antenna devices, such as:
- Far-field patterns
- Losses
- Gain
- Directivity
- Impedance
- S-parameters
Following this, there is a demonstration of building a model of a printed dipole antenna. Some noteworthy features used during the model building process include the:
- Perfect Electric Conductor boundary condition
- Lumped Port boundary condition
- Far-field Domain node
This webinar is relevant to recently released versions of COMSOL Multiphysics®, although you may notice small differences between versions.
