Unable to add point load in a shell - says" not applicable"

Basically, I am making a structure, and I am enabling it as a shell. I want to calculate the frequency response of this structure, by adding a point load on the structure.
The problem is, I am unable to include the point load onto the structure. I've added the point on the surface. When I try to enable this point as a point load, I get a message saying " not applicable" beside the point number. And with this, the frequency response plots are coming up, without this load.
Can you tell me why is this, and how to solve this problem?? Thank you!!
