Convergence

Hello,

what effect has the "Contact penalty factor"?

You should shorten this factor by 1/2 or 1/3 for the convergence behaviour. Is that correct?

For example, if I do that, I get different reaction forces or other results.
How can I best handle with this problem?

Thank you.

For many problems I find that changing the penalty factor by one order of magnitude does not affect results by much, which is how it should be. If your problem is that sensitive it is good to find out why. Two potential causes are loose convergence tolerances, and default contact stiffness too low for your problem.
