simulation of heat transfer in solid with a pulse laser as a heat source

Hello everyone,

i am new user to Comsol. so my question is very basic. i want to simulate laser heating on thin metalic surface with 1000Hz pulse frequency running for 0.5sec. i do not understand how to implement analytic function (stepping) for pulse.

I already did simulation for CW laser as gaussian heat source by adding formula in variable. but for pulse, which anylytic function to use and how to use is complication to me.

anyone please guide me with it?

Regards, Bhagyesh
