Acoustic Streaming in a Microchannel with Inhomogeneous Fluids

Application ID: 121501

In acoustofluidics, acoustics is used to manipulate particles and fluids in microfluidic devices. This model demonstrates the phenomena of the inhomogeneous acoustic body force and how it can move a fluid with an inhomogeneous density due to a solute.

The model is of a 2D rectangular cross section of a long rectangular microchannel and inspired by Ref 1. Where it is demonstrated that an acoustic field can move a high density fluid from the bottom to the center of a microfluidic channel. In the model Transport of Diluted Species is used together with user defined material parameters (Ref 1) that depend on the concentration of the diluted species.
