Steep Change in Calculated Gradients of Variables at Boundaries

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I am using the coefficient form PDE interface to model a one-dimensional porous zinc electrode based on porous electrode theory. The profiles of some of the gradients of certain dependent variables show a steep change at the boundaries although the dependent variable profiles do not indicate any such behavior. As an example I uploaded a plot of the dependent variable "ksi2" which is nondimensional current density and the gradient of "ksi2" as calculated by COMSOL. I would appreciate if someone could please explain the discrepancy and advise on how to resolve the issues in the calculated gradient.

Regards,

Mike D'Ambrose
