CFD analysis RANS vs LES

Perhaps someone has a good view on this question. The ozonereactor model is an often shared model by COMSOL, and it shows some nice results if you compute it with a RANS type model.

If instead the same model is ran with a LES model (smagorinsky 0.2) a much more dynamic result pops up.

To what extent would you think that the RANS result is of any use in determination of the flow in the ractor? I would suspect that the LES result is a better match to reality here and that RANS should not be used in these type of reactors where vortex sizes are typically similar to the reactor size.

Wonder what your views are on this.
