Compute the Distance between a Surface and a Line

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I'm trying to compute the shortest distance between every point of the surface of my Geometry and a line that is the centerline of the geometry (see picture) (Final goal: associate every point of the surface to the tangent vector of the closest point of the centerline). For that i was following the blog entry https://br.comsol.com/blogs/how-to-compute-distances-between-objects-in-comsol-multiphysics/. So i created a general extrusion operator over the line and a variable over my surface and then try to plot it into 3D surface plot. But everything i get is the error that 'the interpolation of the extrusion coupling operator failed for at least one point: found no origin point" and a enumeration of target coordinates for which it failed . Grateful for ideas! Tristan
