Guidance for Model Methods

Hello COMSOL community,

I am a PhD student working on nonlinear methods in structural mechanics. I recently discovered that COMSOL offers applications that can be shared, and I am interested in learning how to create a model method to automate my model. If anyone could provide guidance or point me to relevant blog posts or resources on model methods, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello Aida,

As a starting point, you will find a number of resources on model methods by googling "COMSOL model method" or similar. However, to avoid the risk of sending you down the wrong path, it would be a good idea if you could share what exactly makes you think you need to use a model method. Perhaps there is a different and better approach to what you are trying to achieve.

Best regars,

Jeff

Hello Mr. Jeff,

I am working on solving a nonlinear equation using the phase field approach with the arc-length method. I have implemented the phase field equation in the PDE coefficient form, but detecting displacement control with small steps is challenging in a time-dependent study. So, I think the only remaining option is to try coding the arc-length method.
