Coaxial pipes are used in a variety of applications, including geothermal borehole heat exchangers. In this model, cold water is injected through the inner pipe and returns through the annular region between the inner and outer pipes, absorbing heat from the surrounding subsurface. The coaxial pipe is represented using a 1D edge embedded in a 3D model of the ground. Heat transfer is accounted for between the two flow channels and between the outer pipe and the surrounding subsurface. The model demonstrates how to set up a coaxial pipe configuration using the Pipe Flow Module and evaluate the fluid temperature variation with depth.
