绝缘体上硅 (SOI) 光栅耦合器

Application ID: 53631

An optical coupler can be used to couple free-space optical waves, like laser radiation, into guided waves, like propagating modes in fibers. For this purpose, as much power as possible should go into the guided modes. The purpose of this model is to study the coupling efficiency of a free-space gausian beam into an silicon layer on top of a SiO2 substrate (silicon on insulator, SOI). It demonstrates the slit condition on the port defining the evanescent wave. Reflected, transmitted and coupled power is measured.

This asset is strongly inspired by 15476, "Simulation of Light Coupling Reciprocity for a Photonic Grating". The model was built from scratch, utilizing newer features, like the slit condition, and with a simplified geometry.
